OWWR Summer Slam!

To the OWWR Family,

As we enter Memorial Day weekend, I wanted to update all of you of some changes here at OWWR as we move forward this year.

I have attached in the new OWWR Summer Programming Schedule that officially begins Tuesday, May 23rd, 2009.

In addition, I would like to announce the new OWWR Directors, effective Tuesday, May 23rd, 2009.

Lastly, this July OWWR will be hosting for the first time, a free concert series called “DOWNTOWN SOUNDS”, in Glen Cove, NY. I will inform you of the details next month. Any staff member interested in assisting, ensure you contact me.

I hope everyone is enjoying their break. As always, feel free to e-mail, call, or visit to discuss anything. Congratulations to all our graduates, best of luck. Thank you all for a eventful and productive year, we were successful once again.

Spring Break?... not at OWWR!

Hello,

Thank you for attending the meeting earlier this week.

I know some of you are doing your show live over your break and that's great!

Things to know:

• Thursday, April 16th, 'The Social Lounge', will be held in the Student Union Rotunda!
  
• Friday, April 17th, all pre-recorded shows before January 1st, 2009 must be removed from the network, or the files will be deleted.
  
• The 2nd Annual Student MAC Awards will be held Wednesday, May 6th, 2009, 7 PM in the Maguire Theatre.
  
• Check out the latest on CATALYST RADIO NEWS, for your SGA results, the Al Sharpton speech, and more!

OWWR All Staff Meeting, Wednesday, April 1st!

I would like to say thank you to everyone who helped last week with 'Meet the Candidates', Al Sharpton, 'The Great Debate'. We were busy broadcasters here at OWWR, and all of you did great! Check out CRN for all the audio and pictures.

A few items:

- Wednesday, April 1st, 2009, 12 PM, Student Union, Multipurpose Room, Staff Meeting... no joking.. really :)

- Our networks on the rise so all staff ensure they have 1GB or less in the folder for I will be forced to delete items on my own.

- The 2nd Annual 2009 Student Mac Awards are Wednesday, May 6th, 2009, 7 PM, it is now a station priority, and ensure to have your pieces submitted ASAP!

We have been a busy station!

I would like to say thank you to everyones hard work and dedication.
I am very pleased with our new program "In the Know", on Monday's between 4-5 pm, and everyones efforts, and I look forward to our new newscasts Monday-Friday.

Here are some things to know:

• Monday, March 23rd, 'Meet the Candidates', 12 PM -1 PM , Student Union, Multipurpose Room.


• Tuesday, March 24th, 'Meet the Candidates', 12 PM - 1 PM, Student Union, Multipurpose Room


• Wednesday, March 25th, 12-4 PM, OWWR to DJ World Changerz Event, Student Union, Jocks Needed!


• Wednesday, March 25th, Campus Center, Recital Hall, Rev. Al Sharpton will be here and OWWR will be running sound, and conducting interviews.


• Thursday, March 26th, the OWWR Social Lounge hosts the SGA President & Vice Presidential debate, 7-9 PM.


• Saturday, March 28th, 11 PM-2 AM, DJ Abel to spin at the 'Multicultural Social Gathering' in Hall 1, 1st Floor.... and yes I said 11 PM-2 AM so help him.


• Wednesday, April 1st, 12 PM, OWWR Mandatory All Staff Meeting, Student Union.

MAC Awards are upon us, requirements are posted at the station. There is only entry per student allowed in each category.

OWWR Is Fantastic In February!

Hello,

I would like to begin by saying thank you to all the staff members that attended the staff meeting, and the news meeting last week.

In addition, a few things to keep in mind:

- The first promo is due, Wednesday, February 11th, (see the calendar on the right hand side for the rest of the dates.
- Every Thursday, 12 PM, the OWWR News Department meets at the station.
- The OWWR CD Giveaway Returns, Wednesday, February 18th, 12-3 Student Union… and that may be followed by the Panthers game… more to come.
